Largest Mamal in the World

Largest Mamalin the World

If you want to know the record holder for the largest mamal in the world, then you're in the right place. The blue whale is considered the largest mamal in the world. At 30 meters (98 ft) in length and 180 metric tons (200 short tons) or more in weight. Long and slender, the blue whale's body can be various shades of bluish-grey dorsally and somewhat lighter underneath. As with other baleen whales, its diet consists almost exclusively of small crustaceans known as krill. Blue whales can dive for up to an hour, going to a depth of 350 feet (105 m) and have a life expectancy of 35-40 years.

However the biggest land mamal in the world is the African Elephant. African elephants males stand 3.2–4.0 m (10–13 ft) tall at the shoulder and weigh 4,700–6,048 kg (10,000–13,330 lb), while females stand 2.2–2.6 m (7.2–8.5 ft) tall and weigh 2,160–3,232 kg (4,800–7,130 lb). The African Elephant is larger than the Asian Elephant. These mammals have very strong social bonds and live in family groups headed by a female (called a cow). Males (called bulls) occasionally join the group. Elephants are excellent swimmers. Elephants have few natural enemies except man, and they are in danger of extinction due to loss of habitat and poaching (they are killed for their ivory tusks).

Another species of large snakes is Anacondas. An anaconda is a large, non-venomous snake found in tropical South America. Although the name actually applies to a group of snakes, it is often used to refer only to one species in particular, the common or green anaconda, Eunectes murinus, which is one of the largest snakes in the world. Lengths of 50-60 feet have been reported for this species but such extremes lack verification and too add lack of large prey to support a super-large snake. The two only real reliable claims that can be found describe measured anacondas ranging from 26-34 feet although these remain unverified.
